Case Study: LSBG Hamburg keeps traffic flowing with PTV Group's TRIAS

LSBG Hamburg, the State Office for Roads, Bridges and Waterways of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, needed a better way to keep traffic moving while managing construction sites and growing urban congestion. To support its congestion forecasting efforts, it worked with PTV Group on a software-based solution called TRIAS, combining WPS Workplace Solutions’ frontend with PTV Group’s backend.

PTV Group helped implement TRIAS as an intuitive congestion forecasting tool that lets LSBG Hamburg and the police analyze the interactions between traffic jams and construction measures, use real-time traffic data, and compare planning variants more effectively. The system has been in active use since March 30, 2020, and the results reported include optimized traffic flow, better decision support for non-specialists, improved transparency with stakeholders, and a long-term contribution to reducing CO2, nitrogen oxide, and particulate matter emissions.
