Nexter Munitions Reduces Significantly Cost and Time of R&D Developments with PTC Mathcad

Nexter Group, a France-based defense company that designs weapon systems and munitions for the Army, Air Force, Navy and law enforcement, needed to speed concept design and simulations, reduce errors, streamline repetitive R&D calculations, and eliminate time-consuming post-calculation checks. To address these challenges Nexter partnered with PTC, deploying PTC solutions—most notably PTC Mathcad alongside their CAD, PLM and IoT toolset—to accelerate development workflows.

PTC implemented PTC Mathcad to perform fast, accurate analysis of CFD computations and wind-tunnel/free-flight test results, provide a broad range of numerical techniques for aeroballistics forecasting, and enable easy-to-use Design of Experiments. As a result, PTC Mathcad reduced errors and miscommunication, shortened time-to-market, cut aeroballistics R&D costs by 15%, and reduced R&D time by 20%.
