Case Study: KTM achieves 15% faster time-to-market and improved bike performance with PTC

A PTC Case Study

Preview of the KTM Case Study

KTM - Customer Case Study

KTM, Europe’s largest motorsports vehicle manufacturer, needed to keep a relentless pace of innovation while engineering everything in‑house — from engines to chassis — and scale its design organization without slowing collaboration. To meet ambitious targets for performance, weight, fuel efficiency and faster time‑to‑market, KTM turned to PTC and its portfolio (notably Creo for CAD, Windchill for PLM, ThingWorx/IoT and other PTC solutions).

PTC implemented a unified suite—Creo for rapid 3D design and simulation, Windchill to manage PLM and concurrent engineering, plus IoT and service tools—to enable faster iterations and cross‑team access to current models. The results: the KTM 690 DUKE moved from concept to production in 22 months (a 15% time‑to‑market reduction), delivered a 10% improvement in fuel consumption versus the prior generation, class‑leading power‑to‑weight specs, and stronger‑than‑expected sales—outcomes KTM attributes to PTC.
