iRobot, founded in 1990 by MIT roboticists, designs robots for defense, public safety and home use. To overcome decentralized ECAD file storage and distribution that wasted time searching for files, caused manual upload errors, and prevented a common working environment, iRobot engaged PTC and deployed PTC Windchill 10.1 with PTC Windchill Workgroup Manager.

PTC implemented automated ECAD BOM, document and design data management to centralize storage, enable fast import/export, launch ECAD applications from the workspace, and start designs from common templates. As a result of PTC’s solution, iRobot cut design time by hours per design, reduced errors, improved cycle time, and achieved consistent, streamlined ECAD data management across the design team.
