A PTC Case Study
Honeywell Engines, Systems & Services needed a versatile, reliable tool to support a wide range of aerospace R&D tasks — from gas-turbine and auxiliary power unit design to environmental control systems — and to improve accuracy, productivity and communication between its Illinois Research Center and engineering sites. PTC’s PTC Mathcad was chosen as the computational and documentation platform to supplement custom Fortran programs and commercial simulators and to standardize analyses across locations.
PTC implemented PTC Mathcad with individual seats and network access at remote sites, enabling engineers to share complete computational procedures, documentation and plots. The tool is used for modeling, post-processing Fortran outputs, verifying subroutines, and mentoring new engineers, resulting in better error detection (automatic unit conversion and incompatible-unit flags), faster verification and clearer communication among hundreds of engineers — concrete gains in accuracy, productivity and cross-site collaboration enabled by PTC.
