A PTC Case Study
Aristides Instruments, founded by Aristides Poort, set out to create an electric guitar with violin‑like resonance, longer sustain, and a seamless one‑piece body/neck using a new fiberless material called Arium. To rethink materials, ergonomics and manufacturability while minimizing prototypes and development time, the company partnered with PTC and used PTC Creo for design and engineering.
PTC used PTC Creo’s parametric modeling, advanced surfacing and curvature controls to rapidly iterate neck profiles, scale and neck angle, and to design the aluminum molds and cast tooling for a one‑piece Arium body/neck. The result was the Aristides O10—launched to strong reviews and customers across North America, Japan and Europe (including endorsement from Adrian Vandenberg)—with fewer physical prototypes, faster design changes and a streamlined path to production thanks to PTC.
