KTM - Customer Case Study

KTM, Europe’s largest motorsports vehicle manufacturer, needed to accelerate innovation and tightly integrate engine, chassis and systems design while scaling its engineering team. To meet exacting “READY TO RACE” standards and shorten development cycles, KTM worked with PTC PLM, deploying a suite of solutions including Creo (CAD), Windchill (PLM), ThingWorx (IoT), Servigistics (SLM), PTC Mathcad, Arbortext and AR capabilities to support in-house design, simulation and cross‑discipline collaboration.

PTC PLM’s integrated tools enabled concurrent engineering, fast design iteration and universal model access, letting teams reuse parts, visualize designs and optimize across engine and chassis. The result: the KTM 690 DUKE was developed in a record 22 months (a 15% reduction in time‑to‑market), achieved the lightest weight and most powerful engine in its class, delivered a 10% improvement in fuel consumption versus the previous generation, and exceeded sales expectations—demonstrating PTC PLM’s measurable impact on speed, efficiency and product performance.
