Underground Vaults & Storage (UV&S), a long-established records and information management provider, was tasked with building a secure, HIPAA-compliant online medical records portal for a large pediatric clinic. UV&S faced high-volume, complex capture challenges—many small, variable documents organized by patient folder, unreliable barcode/patch separation, blank-page detection, partial batches and double feeds—and an initial solution only achieved about 50,000 pages per month. After pilot testing, UV&S selected PSIGEN Software’s PSIcapture with Kodak I660 scanners and Microsoft SharePoint.

PSIGEN Software implemented PSIcapture Enterprise with the Kodak I660 and SharePoint, delivering reliable barcode recognition, partial-batch processing, blank-page exception handling, auto-indexing via lookup services and simplified document preparation. The deployment increased throughput to over 500,000 images per month (a tenfold improvement), enabled one-hour turnaround for chart requests, freed two exam rooms previously used for paper storage, and positioned UV&S to scale to roughly 1 million complex medical record documents per month with a single scanner and operator.
