Fire Brigades Union - Customer Case Study

The Fire Brigade Union, representing over 85% of the UK’s uniformed fire and rescue staff and headquartered in Kingston-upon-Thames, needed to convert large volumes of member correspondence and internal paper records into electronic files that could be shared across HQ and regional offices via Microsoft SharePoint 2010. To meet this requirement they turned to PSIGEN Software and its PSIcapture (PSIcapture Enterprise) scanning and data-capture solution to automate indexing and migration into SharePoint.

PSIGEN Software implemented PSIcapture to work with the union’s existing Canon and Fujitsu MFPs, using OMR tick-box cover sheets to index batches, create full-text searchable PDF files, and automatically route documents into the correct SharePoint libraries. The result was a fully automated scan-to-SharePoint workflow that makes documents available in a couple of minutes, improves search via SharePoint metadata, enables batch loading to save staff time and money, and is simple enough for post-room staff to use with minimal training.
