The Fire and Rescue Service for the whole of Wales needed a cost-effective online way to sift large volumes of applicants across South Wales, North Wales, and Mid-West Wales, for the first time covering all three services in one recruitment process. PSI True Talent provided its SIFT™ for Firefighter solution to streamline the application stage and support competency-based screening.

PSI True Talent implemented an online sifting system that managed candidate registration, job preview questionnaires, checks on declared convictions, and online tests, with all communication handled electronically. The result was a major efficiency gain: 6,013 applications were processed by a team of just three people, saving an estimated £49,000, cutting the cost per application from £8.66 to £0.36, and saving 203 working days in checking and shortlisting.
