Washington State Department of Transportation engages 269 underserved residents with PRR

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) needed to update its statewide Public Transportation Plan to reflect the needs of vulnerable and transit-dependent communities whose voices were historically excluded from such planning. To address this challenge, they engaged the vendor PRR, Inc. for its community engagement services.

PRR, Inc. implemented a solution by recruiting and compensating a community advisory group to co-create and lead the outreach, ensuring it was community-driven. This approach resulted in 15 community-led events and gathered input from 269 historically underserved residents, which directly shaped the final plan. The measurable impact was a more equitable Public Transportation Plan grounded in the real experiences of the people it was meant to serve.
