Tranvía De Tenerife enables seamless tram surveillance at 80 mph with Proxim Wireless

Tranvía de Tenerife, the tram system on the island of Tenerife, required a high-bandwidth network to support real-time video surveillance across its vast geographic expanse, including inside moving trams. The challenge was to find a cost-effective alternative to wired connections that could reliably transmit high-resolution video feeds in harsh conditions. Proxim Wireless was selected to address this challenge with its Tsunami point-to-multipoint solution.

Proxim Wireless implemented a wireless network using its WORP protocol and FastConnect mobility to enable seamless video feeds from both stationary cameras and those on trams moving at high speeds. The solution allowed for quick and cost-effective deployment of the surveillance system. As a result, Tranvía de Tenerife can now stream high-resolution, real-time video to its security center and has also expanded the network's use to provide passenger WiFi and support ticketing applications.
