The City of Iguaçu, Brazil Selects Proxim’s Solutions to Deploy Citywide Surveillance Network

The City of Iguaçu, Brazil, faced persistent arms, smuggling and drug trafficking across the “Triple Frontier” and needed a cost‑effective, quickly deployable citywide video surveillance backhaul to support more than 120 high‑bandwidth cameras at 100+ locations over 618 km2. To meet severe non‑line‑sight (NLOS) and high RF interference conditions, the city selected Proxim Wireless (with implementation partner Serv Imagem) and its Tsunami point‑to‑multipoint/point‑to‑point radios, including QuickBridge 8200 backhaul and 8200 Series base station units.

Proxim Wireless implemented a network of over 180 Tsunami radios aggregating camera feeds to a central monitoring center and leveraged Proxim’s WORP routing, ClearConnect and automatic channel selection to overcome dense foliage and interference. The deployment delivered high‑uptime, high‑capacity links that unified real‑time feeds (HD, thermal, speed‑dome and OCR) from 120+ cameras across 16 towers, boosting police visibility and productivity—enabling license‑plate capture and live detection of smuggling and trafficking across the city.
