A Proxim Wireless Case Study
The City of Bordrum needed a citywide video surveillance network that would not damage its historic streets or require costly trenching. Facing the challenge of carrying high-throughput video from more than 70 cameras across a busy tourist destination, The City of Bordrum selected Proxim Wireless—using Proxim’s Tsunami radios and WORP QoS—to ensure reliable, prioritized video backhaul without digging up the city.
Working with integrator STM and distributor Corvus, Proxim Wireless supplied a deployment of 67 Tsunami multipoint subscriber stations and 37 base stations, synchronized by GPS and supporting over 70 Pelco cameras (each requiring ~3.5 Mbps for 25 fps, 4CIF). The Proxim Wireless solution was deployed in months, saved an estimated $60,000 per month in leased-line costs, avoided expensive and destructive fiber trenching, and delivered carrier-class, high-throughput performance for long-term operation.
