Proxim’s Mobility Solution Powers Video Surveillance and Wi-Fi Access in Metro Ligero Oeste Line, Madrid

Metro Ligero Oeste (MLO), S.A. operates 27 vehicles across 22 km of track in Madrid and needed reliable, high‑bandwidth onboard connectivity for passenger Wi‑Fi, real‑time CCTV, VoIP public address and mission‑critical systems like ticketing and train‑control. To meet these requirements they turned to Proxim Wireless for a mobility‑enabled outdoor wireless solution (FastConnect™, WORP®, ClearConnect™ and point‑to‑multipoint technology).

Proxim Wireless deployed 80 Tsunami® point‑to‑multipoint base stations with sector antennas along the route, subscriber units on train roofs and two Orinoco access points per train, delivering seamless handoffs and continuous coverage even in tunnels. The Proxim Wireless system provides up to 15 Mbps per train, supports onboard internet for ~700 daily passengers and enables ticketing, PA, CBTC and real‑time CCTV for improved operations and safety.
