Ministry of Education, Bahrain Chooses Proxim to Provide Electronic Access to its Knowledge Centers

The Ministry of Education, Bahrain needed to provide electronic access from its network of 11 Ministry knowledge centers to MoE‑managed schools nationwide but found a wireline buildout would be slow, costly and non‑scalable. To meet the “easy access” initiative the Ministry engaged BATEC, which selected Proxim Wireless solutions—specifically the Tsunami® outdoor point‑to‑multipoint radios—to deliver a fast, wireless alternative.

BATEC deployed Proxim Wireless Tsunami® radios (IP67‑rated, WORP‑enabled) in an 11‑subscriber‑unit network backhauling each knowledge center to a central base station and Internet gateway. The Proxim Wireless solution supported mixed voice, video and data traffic with high QoS, delivered rapid, low‑TCO deployment, increased network capacity and substantial cost savings while reliably connecting all eleven knowledge centers to the school network.
