Metro Ligero Oeste, a light rail line in Madrid, Spain, needed to provide reliable high-bandwidth connectivity on its trains to support onboard WiFi for passengers and a network for critical operations like video surveillance and real-time communications. They engaged Proxim Wireless to implement a mobility-enabled solution using their Tsunami point-to-multipoint products to meet this challenge.

Proxim Wireless implemented a network using base station units along the tracks and subscriber units on the trains, featuring their FastConnect technology for seamless handoffs. The solution delivers up to 15Mbps internet speeds on moving trains and reliably supports mission-critical applications like CCTV and ticketing systems for approximately 700 daily passengers.
