How ELEXIR and Centigrade use ProtoPie to push the boundaries of automotive innovation

Centigrade GmbH, a leading German UX design agency, was tasked by car startup ELEXIR to create a new, highly dynamic human-machine interface (HMI) for a fully customizable and sustainable vehicle. The challenge was to build a sophisticated prototype that integrated with real-time data and multiple hardware devices in the showcar to visually demonstrate the innovative software's value to stakeholders in an extremely short timeframe. They turned to the prototyping tool from their vendor, ProtoPie, to achieve this.

Using ProtoPie, Centigrade implemented a solution featuring real-time data connections that allowed user interactions on the HMI to have immediate physical effects in the car, such as moving a seat. The vendor's tool enabled their team to work collaboratively and efficiently with a component-based approach, which allowed for rapid iteration and testing directly on the final showcar hardware. This successful collaboration resulted in a nominated for the German UX Design Award 2022, showcasing the powerful and effective prototype developed with ProtoPie.
