Zellwerk GmbH, a Germany-based specialist in cell culture and tissue engineering, needed a way to produce single-use bioreactors for cultivating immune cells outside the body. Their challenge was finding a plastic resin and surface finish that could withstand gamma sterilization and create the precise, repeatable flow conditions required for regenerative medicine.

Protolabs supplied rapid injection-moulded parts for Zellwerk’s Z® RP Technology bioreactors and probe adapters, helping them quickly test and produce functional components in the right material. The result was a reliable, standardized system that met stringent regulatory requirements, with finished parts delivered in as little as 5 to 10 days and at lower cost than traditional prototype methods.
