A Protolabs Case Study
DCO Systems, a UK-based startup providing energy monitoring for industrial steam systems, needed a robust and cost-effective mounting device to attach an energy harvester to various pipe sizes. The part had to efficiently transfer heat and withstand high temperatures of 180°C. They turned to vendor Protolabs for a CNC machining service to prototype this vital component.
Protolabs collaborated with DCO Systems through six design iterations to create a finalized aluminum mounting plate with adaptable shims. This solution provided a reliable and easily fitted part that also served as a template for large-scale production. The result was a truly wireless monitoring system for DCO Systems, which now has an initial batch of 500 units ready for deployment. Protolabs' rapid turnaround and technical expertise were critical to the project's success.
