Case Study: Sportech accelerates design validation and production timelines with Protolabs quick-turn CNC machining

A Protolabs Case Study

Preview of the Sportech, Inc Case Study

Sportech uses quick-turn machining to validate design prior to large-scale manufacturing

Sportech, Inc. is a Minnesota-based product development partner for major power-sports vehicle makers, creating custom parts and accessories for snowmobiles, ATVs, UTVs, and motorcycles. When it needed durable test parts for windshield clips and hooks before its customer’s injection-molded tooling was ready, Sportech turned to Protolabs’ quick-turn CNC machining service to avoid delaying validation by six weeks or more.

Protolabs machined the nylon 6 parts in just a few days, giving Sportech production-like test pieces that could be physically validated for durability and snap performance. With confidence in the design before the tooling came online, Sportech stayed on schedule, helped its customer launch high-volume production, and has since seen more than 100,000 of the parts produced.
