Smiledge Sanitising dummies and other products with the support of Protolabs

Smiledge, led by dentist Marco Migliorati in Italy, wanted to create a device to correctly sanitise babies’ dummies and also dental prosthetics and equipment. To move from concept to a workable design, the company worked with Protolabs, using 3D printing and prototyping support to validate the idea quickly and affordably.

Protolabs produced the first prototype in certified biocompatible black PA 12 on an HP Multi Jet Fusion printer for under 200 Euro, then handled aluminium moulds and injection moulding for pre-production and full production. The result was a patented product line, with Protolabs delivering 2,000 devices in two colours within days and helping Smiledge complete stability and compatibility testing for market-ready use.
