Protolabs helps Sooma develop groundbreaking device for depression treatment

Sooma Medical, a Finnish medical device company focused on non-invasive brain stimulation for depression treatment, needed to create casing parts for its Sooma Duo portable therapeutic brain stimulation device. As the product moved through design verification and certification testing, the team required a manufacturing partner that could quickly support design changes and produce injection moulded enclosure parts that met medical, safety, and biocompatibility standards.

Protolabs provided automated Design for Manufacturability feedback, mould analysis, tooling support, and injection moulding for four casing parts. Protolabs helped Sooma resolve design changes, refine gate trimming for visible surfaces, and deliver parts that met ISO 10993 and UL-94 requirements with a high-quality finish. The result was faster development and certification support, quick delivery for assembly, and a long-term manufacturing partnership for the Sooma Duo.
