Protolabs Helps Scion-Sprays to win €4 million Order

Scion-Sprays Ltd, based at the Hethel Engineering Centre near Norwich, needed fully functioning pre-production prototypes for its affordable engine management system, QFI, to impress a prospective European customer. To meet this challenge, the company turned to Protolabs for rapid manufacturing services, using injection moulding and CNC machining for critical components such as the stepper motor arm and throttle crank.

Protolabs delivered accurately quoted, production-like parts in just days, with design support that helped refine the components for manufacture. The prototypes performed as intended, helping Scion-Sprays win its first commercial order: a €4 million contract over three years from the European motorcycle maker. Scion-Sprays said it would use Protolabs again for future pre-production models.
