Protolabs helps IG Technology create device that could revolutionise Dvt treatment

IG Technology worked with Protolabs to develop moulded parts for “Legacy,” a portable Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (IPC) device designed to help prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The challenge was to create a smaller, quieter, more comfortable, and more portable alternative to existing hospital-only devices, while still supporting medical-grade performance and future use in both hospital and community settings.

Protolabs provided plastic injection moulding support, using its automated manufacturability analysis tool, engineering expertise, and iterative tool modifications to refine the parts before production. Six different components were produced, with around 6,000 parts shipped in total, helping IG Technology move quickly from early testing to production. Protolabs’ rapid delivery and support also positioned the partnership for future multi-cavity tooling as demand grows.
