PhotonicSens, a depth camera innovator serving electronics, robotics, healthcare, and consumer markets, needed a high-precision protective casing for its latest compact camera. The challenge was to create a lightweight, robust housing that would fit perfectly without compromising the extreme precision required for the camera’s photonic imaging technology. Protolabs was brought in to support the prototyping and production of this critical enclosure.

Protolabs worked closely with PhotonicSens to review the CAD design, recommend changes to wall thickness and internal fit, and optimize the part for manufacturability and speed. This collaboration allowed PhotonicSens to prototype the component in just a few units, reduce iterations, and quickly obtain a functional housing that met strict technical requirements. The result was an ultra-precise camera with improved image quality and positive early feedback from medical, industrial, and precision agriculture customers.
