Mectronik Protolabs helps win the race to develop key component for motorsport

Mectronik, a motorsport electronics company, needed to develop a lightweight, heat-resistant anti-vibration mount for a racing bike’s ECU that could be produced in small quantities and delivered in less than two months. To meet the challenge, Mectronik turned to Protolabs for support with 3D printing (Polyjet), CNC machining, and injection moulding (LSR).

Protolabs created an initial 3D-printed prototype to validate the design and mechanical properties, then quickly produced the aluminium mould and injection-moulded the final parts in liquid silicone. With Protolabs’ help, Mectronik moved from concept to final production in under 60 days and delivered 250 parts in time for the start of the 2022 racing season.
