A Protolabs Case Study
Mindsett, an IoT solutions firm, wanted to develop PRISM, an intelligent asset-monitoring device that could help businesses reduce energy use while also reflecting strong ESG values in its own manufacturing. To meet a tight launch timeline and avoid the environmental impact of overseas production, Mindsett turned to Protolabs for onshoring support, injection molding, and consultative design help.
Protolabs used its automated design-for-moldability analysis, Consultative Design Service, and quick-turn plastic injection molding to refine the CAD, improve manufacturability, advise on materials and flammability requirements, and produce five molded components for PRISM’s casing. Protolabs delivered 2,500 parts in less than eight weeks, with 500 units each of the inner cover, lower case, button, clear lens, and top case, helping Mindsett bring a more sustainable product to market faster and reduce transport-related carbon footprint.
