Dog & Bone - Customer Case Study

Dog & Bone, the art project created by music industry executive Eli Castelli, needed help turning a conceptual sculpture into a physical product. New to SLS manufacturing and unsure how to navigate material and production options, the customer struggled with technical jargon and wanted a cost-effective way to prototype without wasting money. Protolabs and its selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printing service were used to help bring the idea to life.

Protolabs guided Eli through the process, explained the options clearly, and quickly produced the first model from a CAD file, followed by a larger SLS version when the design was scaled up. The result was a high-quality, detailed sculpture that Eli painted and later sold as a limited edition of 30 in a London gallery, with the piece also selected for the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition 2020. Protolabs’ support helped make the process smooth and fast, enabling Dog & Bone to move from concept to gallery exhibition.
