DMG Dental needed to rapidly develop and test a new plastic interdental wedge for its innovative, drill-less Icon dental treatment system. The challenge was creating a functional prototype with and long lead times of traditional tooling for an unproven product. They turned to the rapid injection moulding service from Protolabs for a solution.

Protolabs provided DMG Dental with quick quotes and production of low-volume injection moulded parts using the customer's own medical-grade material. This allowed for rapid iteration and field testing, condensing development time from over eight weeks to just four weeks. As a result, DMG Dental was able to bring its product to market significantly faster, using Protolabs for initial production batches while awaiting full-scale tooling.
