Diagonal Bio innovates towards quick and accurate identification of genetic markers with the help of Protolabs

Diagonal Bio is a MedTech company developing PANVIRAL, a universal diagnostic platform designed to identify genetic markers quickly and accurately for multiple diseases in parallel. To move the concept forward, Diagonal Bio needed a cost-effective way to prototype the cartridge section of its instrument, which had to run eight samples in parallel and support rapid point-of-care diagnostics within 10–15 minutes. Protolabs provided the rapid injection moulding service used to produce the cartridge prototypes.

Protolabs used its automated manufacturing analysis and technical consultation to help Diagonal Bio refine the cartridge design for manufacturability and cost efficiency. The mould was produced in four weeks from the first CAD upload, and first prototypes arrived only a couple of days later. The fast turnaround enabled Diagonal Bio to keep iterating on the design, support validation of its first RUO instrument, and continue development toward commercial systems for laboratory and clinical use.
