A Protolabs Case Study
Clement Clarke Communication (C3), a designer and manufacturer of telecommunications headsets, was entering the high-volume consumer market for the first time with its Qstik Bluetooth mobile telephone headset. The company needed to move from initial design to production-ready prototypes quickly, with short lead times, frequent design changes, and a tight development budget.
Protolabs provided rapid injection moulding and CNC-machined aluminium tooling to produce prototype parts and short runs in as little as five days, with a quote and design feedback delivered within an hour. This enabled C3 to build fully functioning test headsets, revise the design, and then produce a 100-unit batch; Protolabs ultimately produced eight tools in one week at a set price, helping the project reach prototype and evaluation stages far faster than conventional moulding.
