A Protolabs Case Study
Cleanbrace, a German start-up, faced the challenge of creating a wearable, fashionable wristband that could dispense hand disinfectant on-the-go. They needed to move from functional prototypes to batch production for the device's central adapter piece. They partnered with digital manufacturer Protolabs and utilized its injection moulding and Design for Manufacture (DFM) service to make this transition.
Protolabs implemented a solution that included a dedicated team to ensure design for manufacturability, suggesting modifications like a two-tool system for brackets. The result was that three tools were injection moulded in just three days, achieving daily production volumes. The entire process from initial enquiry to full delivery of all components was completed in only 14 days, enabling Cleanbrace's successful batch production.
