AseptiScope Partners with Protolabs to Limit Pathogens in Clinical Settings

AseptiScope, a San Diego-based medical device start-up, faced the challenge of preventing the transmission of pathogens via stethoscopes in clinical environments. Existing cleaning methods were insufficient, and they needed a simple, touch-free solution to create a protective barrier between clinicians and patients. They partnered with vendor Protolabs to develop and manufacture their solution.

Protolabs provided consultative design services and injection moulding expertise to help AseptiScope refine and produce the critical components of their DiskCover System. By utilizing rapid prototyping and on-demand manufacturing, Protolabs enabled multiple design iterations, resulting in a robust, reliable product. This collaboration allowed AseptiScope to bring their system to market efficiently, positioning them ahead of new CDC guidelines and offering a more sustainable alternative to disposable stethoscopes.
