A Protolabs Case Study
Airline Components International (ACI) is an Oxfordshire-based industrial design company that designs and remanufactures aircraft interior parts for airline customers. ACI needed a fast, cost-effective way to produce parts for urgent maintenance and refurbishment projects, where grounded aircraft have only a short window for repairs. Protolabs’ rapid injection moulding service was used to help ACI meet these tight deadlines.
By partnering with Protolabs, ACI was able to turn around production-intent injection moulded parts in as little as one, three, five, or fifteen business days instead of the 12–16 weeks quoted elsewhere. Protolabs helped ACI shorten lead times by several weeks, allowing airline customers to fit parts during scheduled maintenance and return aircraft to service faster. Since then, ACI has used Protolabs for a wide range of components, from seat parts and carpet joiners to galley and overhead bin items.
