A Drop of Technology Adds Sophistication To An Exceptional Vodka

Comate Engineering & Design was tasked with creating a sophisticated closure system for the XAU® vodka bottle that required a precise and discreet injection moulded insert. The challenge was to design this small technical component to provide the perfect amount of force for opening and closing, aligning with the brand's luxurious image. They partnered with Protolabs and its injection moulding service to finalize the design and move into production.

Protolabs collaborated with Comate to refine the part's design for manufacturability, adjusting thicknesses and adding features for assembly. Utilizing Protolabs' rapid manufacturing capabilities, the mould tools were created and a first production run of 15 parts was delivered in just three weeks. This speed to market allowed the luxury vodka to launch on time, with the client praising the competitive rates, short lead times, and the perfect quality of the received items.
