YXLON International GmbH needed a way to turn a high-resolution CT scan of a Sumatran rhinoceros skull into a tangible replica for a trade show, while also preserving the scan’s scientific value for research. The company turned to Protolabs for 3D printing support after creating the digital model with its computed tomography technology.

Protolabs reviewed the scan through its online quoting system, advised on the support structures and printability, and produced the skull in Accura Xtreme White 200 on a short deadline. The result was a highly detailed, realistic replica that captured fine features from the scan, helped YXLON meet its trade show schedule, and showcased the capabilities of YXLON’s scanning technology.
