Specialty Appliance, a Georgia-based advanced digital dental lab, faced slow, error-prone impression-based workflows that delayed orthodontic appliance delivery and required multiple patient appointments. To speed turnarounds and improve model accuracy, Specialty Appliance partnered with Proto3000 to adopt 3D printing technology, using printers like the Objet Eden260V and Eden500V and materials such as VeroDentPlus to produce one-to-one dental models from intraoral scans.

Proto3000’s 3D printing solution moved model production from a week to same-day capability, delivered dimensional accuracy within about 40 microns, and increased printer-based cases from 6% to 24% in 18 months. The change also reduced procedures—e.g., mounting an appliance—from six weeks and three appointments to two weeks and two appointments, improving productivity, patient experience and business growth for Specialty Appliance.
