Sodimas Designs High-end Elevators With 3D Printing

Sodimas, a specialist in custom high‑end elevators, needed faster design validation, easier assembly tooling and better customer demonstrations while managing a large spare‑parts inventory. To address long metal lead times and cumbersome demo models, Sodimas adopted Proto3000’s 3D printing/FDM solutions (using high‑performance resins) to produce functional prototypes, custom jigs and lightweight training models.

Using Proto3000’s printers, Sodimas cut prototype turnaround from roughly 15 days to just a few hours for immediate fit‑and‑function checks, created custom jigs that speed and simplify assembly (placement in seconds), and produced portable 3D training models for clearer customer demos. The changes boosted development speed and operator productivity and positioned Sodimas to reduce spare‑parts inventory and associated warehouse costs by printing parts on demand.
