A Proto3000 Case Study
PGV Industries, a Karnes City, Texas manufacturer with more than three decades of experience, was constrained by the costs and lead times of traditional CNC machining: expensive hard tooling, limited agility to update designs, lengthy multi‑step machining processes, and large spare‑parts inventories. To overcome these challenges PGV partnered with Proto3000 and implemented the Shop System metal 3D‑printing solution.
Proto3000’s Shop System enabled on‑demand metal part production that eliminates tooling and consolidates multi‑step machining into single‑step binder‑jet printing. As a result, PGV cut lead times by 50–80%, reduced physical inventory by up to 50%, converted some five‑step jobs into one step, and can economically produce small batches (sometimes fewer than 20) while meeting required material properties—freeing shop capacity, lowering tooling and warehousing costs, and speeding design iteration.
