Perkins and Will, a global architecture firm, faced the challenge of quickly visualizing and iterating building designs before client and community presentations. To speed up this process they used MakerBot Desktop 3D printers (including a MakerBot Replicator 2) for in-office rapid prototyping, supported by Proto3000’s 3D printing solutions.

Proto3000’s solution enabled Perkins and Will to rapidly produce dozens of physical models—more than 40 six-inch tower prototypes for a single study—so designers could test more ideas, make better design decisions, and get faster approvals. By leveraging Proto3000’s 3D printing capabilities, the team accelerated final development stages and shortened iteration cycles, with staff noting they could “print at the same speed that you can draw.”
