Montclair Public Schools Distributes 3D Printers District-Wide

Montclair Public School, a New Jersey K–12 district of 11 schools serving 6,625 students, sought to modernize its curriculum and scale STEM learning beyond isolated makerspaces. Proto3000 was engaged to deliver a district‑wide 3D printing program, providing desktop MakerBot printers along with educator resources such as Thingiverse Education and the MakerBot Educators Guidebook to ensure consistency and ease of use across grades.

Proto3000 implemented a fully supported network of desktop 3D printers (launched district‑wide in 2015) with turnkey purchasing, deployment, training, and curriculum support. As a result, Proto3000 enabled 3D printing from grades 2–12 in all 11 schools—reaching 6,625 students—improved reliability and teacher readiness, and created a sustainable, district‑wide STEM program supported by teacher‑tested lesson plans.
