Lamborghini speeds production workflow with 3D printed production parts

Lamborghini, the Italian supercar maker, needed faster, stronger and more flexible ways to develop both prototype and production parts for road and track use—parts that could withstand high temperatures and the rigors of racing while supporting complex geometries on tight timelines. To meet that challenge, Lamborghini turned to Proto3000 for FDM 3D printing systems (including Fortus series production systems and earlier Dimension models) and high-performance materials such as ULTEM 9085 and PC‑ABS.

Proto3000’s in‑house 3D printing solution allowed Lamborghini to bring prototyping back from outsourcing (installing a Dimension 1200es in 2007 and Fortus systems in 2010–2013), accelerate iterations, and produce durable aerodynamics, engine‑bay and interior components quickly. As a result—per Lamborghini’s engineering team—Proto3000’s technology delivered greater control of projects, optimized lead times and reduced costs, while enabling functional, high‑temperature parts and faster design validation.
