A Proto3000 Case Study
Koenigsegg, the Swedish supercar maker, struggled with slow, costly prototyping because each car uses more than 300 carbon-fibre parts and outsourced 3D printing added days and administrative overhead that disrupted development. To speed iterations and reduce cost, Koenigsegg turned to Proto3000 and its Dimension SST 1200es 3D printer for onsite prototyping.
Proto3000’s Dimension SST 1200es allowed engineers to print, modify and test high-density plastic prototypes quickly—some of which could be used as end-use parts—cutting prototyping costs by about 40%, shortening development time by an estimated 20%, and reducing turnaround from weeks to days. The faster in-house iteration supported design work on the Agera (helping achieve 920nm torque at 5000rpm), increased engineering creativity, and improved overall efficiency.
