Journey From Monochrome to Photorealism

Innodesign, a Korea-based design firm led by Kim Young-se, needed a faster, more realistic way to turn concepts into prototypes without the heavy post-processing and high costs of traditional fabrication. To solve this, Innodesign turned to Proto3000 and its J750 3D printing solution to move from monochrome mockups to photorealistic, multi-color prototypes during the concept and rendering process.

Proto3000’s J750 enabled multi-material, full-color printing with automatic color mapping (over 360,000 colors), significantly reducing sanding, lacquering and other post-processing. The result: prototyping time dropped from up to two weeks to about 8 hours and cost per photorealistic functional prototype fell from $900–$4,500 to roughly $88—about a 90% cost saving and a 97% lead-time reduction—while boosting designer creativity and client-ready realism.
