Case Study: Ecrimesa Group achieves faster, lower-cost metal prototyping and improved product quality with Proto3000

A Proto3000 Case Study

Preview of the Ecrimesa Group Case Study

Improving the quality and productivity of services and products with Desktop Metal’s Studio System 2

Ecrimesa Group Spain, a multi‑industry manufacturer producing over 9,000 different parts, faced long lead times and high costs for new tooling—often waiting 8–12 weeks for molds—while needing consistent, high‑quality metal parts for customers in automotive, aerospace, defense and other sectors. To boost productivity and quality, Ecrimesa worked with Proto3000 to adopt Desktop Metal’s Studio System 2 metal 3D printing solution.

Proto3000 implemented the Studio System 2, enabling Ecrimesa to print parts (including 4140 steel and 17‑4PH stainless prototypes) using the same powders and sintering process as MIM. The result: parts go from CAD to furnace in hours instead of weeks, superior density and minimal distortion after sintering, far lower prototyping costs versus machining, and the ability to run more functional tests and sintering trials before investing in tooling—dramatically reducing lead times and upfront tooling expense while improving part quality. Proto3000’s deployment delivered measurable speed, cost and quality gains for Ecrimesa.
