Fueling Innovation Across Disciplines

Case Western Reserve University opened Sears think[box] to give students and the local community broad access to rapid prototyping, but needed a scalable, user-friendly 3D printing solution to move beyond a few engineering lab printers. To address that challenge the university deployed Proto3000 3D printing systems and services to equip the facility and support high-volume, multidisciplinary use.

Proto3000 supplied multiple printers and an operational workflow (online STL submission with pre/post-processing and delivery), enabling fast iteration and wider project scope. With six machines on site and more than 5,000 monthly visitors, Proto3000’s solution accelerated prototype turnaround, broadened student projects—from Baja SAE and NASA robotics parts to medical models—and added measurable educational value across campus.
