A Proto3000 Case Study
Dixon Valve, a century-old hose coupling manufacturer, needed faster, more economical ways to develop tooling and manufacturing aids for its automated production lines — from gantry locators and robot grippers to fixtures and specialized elbow parts. To accelerate prototyping and produce durable, production-grade tooling, Dixon Valve turned to Proto3000’s 3D printing solutions.
Proto3000 deployed FDM-style 3D printers and engineering-grade materials so Dixon Valve could print gantry locators, jaws, grippers and permanent fixtures in-house. The solution cut time and cost by 88% versus standard manufacturing, dramatically reduced material and labor expenses, enabled idea-to-part turnaround in about 48 hours, and delivered reliable tooling that’s now used directly on the production floor.
