Case Study: Global Energy Company achieves rapid E&P integration and streamlined P2P, AP and materials management with Protiviti

A Protiviti Case Study

Preview of the Global Energy Company Case Study

Protiviti helps global energy conglomerate complete a complex integration of an E&P target

Global Energy Company faced the challenge of integrating a recently acquired exploration and production (E&P) firm with roughly $12 billion in assets that lacked formal procurement, accounts payable (AP) and materials management processes. With an ERP migration planned years out, the Global Energy Company engaged Protiviti to establish interim procure-to-pay (P2P) and materials management (MM) controls and to improve enterprise-wide category management so the E&P business could be brought into corporate standards quickly and safely.

Protiviti ran eight stakeholder workshops, led comprehensive physical counts across multiple locations in three states, built an AP analytics dashboard to address invoice backlogs, and standardized P2P, MM and inventory procedures. In less than six months Protiviti delivered a short- and long-term AP roadmap, an updated ERP process that improved invoice processing, an inventory application and complete, accurate inventory records; it also completed a ~10-week engagement to design a global category management framework that improved spending visibility and established a new senior supply-chain leadership structure.
