A Protiviti Case Study
Largest Insurance Company faced the end of Windows XP support in 2014 and needed to migrate to Windows 7 to avoid costly extended-support exposure. The Corporate Finance IT department (about 200 staff plus ~1,000 business users) engaged Protiviti to scope, assess, budget and create governance for an initial Windows 7 migration of roughly 1,200 devices and to evaluate impacts on day-to-day operations.
Protiviti acted as an integrated internal support team—developing migration schedules, coordinating technical teams and end users, troubleshooting, training and providing project oversight. Protiviti successfully migrated almost 2,000 machines, provided oversight and reporting for an additional ~6,000 devices, avoided the need for extended XP support, completed the work with no reported service disruptions, and spurred further migrations (another 700 machines), increasing user trust and earning repeat engagements for future IT upgrades.
